was born in Brookville, PA and grew up in the Evangelical UMC there where his great-grandfather, the Rev. Perry Pyle, had served. A year after graduating high school, he married Heather Parker (daughter of the Revs. David & Alice Jean Parker) in May of 1999. They have three daughters, Laylah, Naavah and Eliyah – aged 15, 14 and 13.
Before Seth came to Community Church he was an associate pastor for Christ UMC in Bethel Park where he served as Pastor of Discipleship for this large suburban congregation.
He is currently in the Rhetoric and Communication Studies Ph.D. program at Duquesne University where he instructs courses in public speaking and organizational change as well.
Seth has a passion for teaching Bible and theology, especially the Old Testament, and leading conversations of visioning and discernment. When not leading, teaching, studying or reading, he can be found hanging out with his family at his girls’ sports and music events – or running somewhere.
